Alex Young is an artist exploring cycles of death, rebirth and transformation through material experimentation. Her sculptures, paintings and installations, which blend natural elements with cultural detritus, are informed by her experiences of chronic health conditions and their distortions of time, perception and embodiment. She is interested in art’s ability to improve wellbeing and has been involved in projects such as Clay for Dementia, while working for the charity Young Epilepsy alongside her art practice.
She studied painting and printmaking at Glasgow School of Art, before completing her master’s in sculpture at the Royal College of Art in 2023.
