Alex Young is an artist using natural and manmade materials to explore cycles of decay, renewal and transformation. Her sculptures, paintings and installations are also informed by her experiences of fluctuating health conditions and their distortions of time, perception and embodiment. She is interested in art’s ability to improve wellbeing and has been involved in projects such as Clay for Dementia, while working for the charity Young Epilepsy alongside her art practice.
She studied painting and printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art in 2022, before completing her master’s in sculpture at the Royal College of Art in 2023.
